BACKGROUND

The Government of Sierra Leone with support from the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank is preparing the Sierra Leone Land Administration Project (SLLAP) to be financed through a US$ 41.1 million grant. The proposed Project Development Objective (PDO) is to establish as efficient and accessible land administration system.  

The project will be conducting a comprehensive assessment of the institutional framework and core business processes in land administration sector of Sierra Leone, carried out primarily by the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning (MLHCP), the National Lands Commission (NLC) and Office of the Administration and Registrar General (OARG). 

Internships are an opportunity to put the knowledge and skills acquired in university to use. Therefore, SLLAP want to promote internship and wish to ensure that, the intern leaves the internship more developed as a professional, not just more proficient in one specific skill. SLLAP do believe, gaining skills outside the academic environment is a skill itself. The earlier they can focus on this, the more likely they are to succeed in the long term. Also, the internship program with SLLAP will help the interns tap into their authentic selves so that they can successfully choose their next steps and hopefully start their journey in a career they will love. The Sierra Leone Lands Administration Project (SLLAP) needs interns in the areas of GIS, Land Survey and Mapping, Land Administration and Management, Procurement, Financial Management, Urban Planning/Housing, ICT and Admin: HR & Records Management, therefore, the interns must be willing to take on assignments to discover hidden talents and their passions to work in the provincial communities in Sierra Leone. There is a great opportunity to also establish a network of professional who champion their stretch opportunities – strong relationships for a lifetime. 

Therefore, the Sierra Leone Lands Administration Project (SLLAP) want to recruit the third set of   interns into various departments within the Ministry, NLC and the project to support in the implementation of the Project Development Objectives for a period of One Year (1yr) beginning in the month of October 2025. The following areas had been identified to recruit the interns to fill the vacancies.  No continuing student is allowed to apply for any of these positions.

  • Strong organisational skills including skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet browning);
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines;
  • Monitor engagement and enquiries on specific objectives and roles and responsibilities; 
  • Keep up-to-date with your mentors and heads of departments/units;
  • Have completed and/or currently completing a HND certificates/degree;
  • Willingness to live and work in rote communities. 

These roles will give you great experiences in the world of Land Administration and Management and the Public Sector environment. You will report directly to the Training Coordinator through the heads of departments/units in the Sierra Leone Lands Administration Project in the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning.
